THE GAPAgreement is not alignment
Leaders agree on strategy. Teams agree on priorities. And outcomes still stall — because agreement is what people say in the room, and alignment is what they believe when they leave it.
It isn’t a communication problem or a strategy problem. It’s a belief problem wearing the mask of an execution problem. When beliefs align, behaviors stabilize; when behaviors stabilize, outcomes accelerate.
The 5 alignment gaps
Diagnosed through The Alignment Lab Diagnostic and matched to your team’s data before the first session. One module per gap.
| What the team has | The gap underneath |
|---|---|
| Everyone agreed in the room | MindsetThe Consensus Gap Agreement but not commitment — people said yes but don’t believe it in their gut. |
| There’s a strategy | MindsetThe Narrative Gap A strategy but not a shared story — everyone runs a different internal narrative about what success means. |
| Alignment in calm conditions | HeartsetThe Pressure Gap Aligned in calm, fractured under stress — conviction holds in the room and collapses in the crisis. |
| Standards on paper | HeartsetThe Norms Gap Tolerating what should be confronted — what’s been normalized has quietly become the ceiling. |
| Good intentions | SkillsetThe Systems Gap Intention instead of structure — alignment runs on individual willpower, not organizational architecture. |
The Alignment Lab — frequently asked questions
What is The Alignment Lab?
The Alignment Lab is Glasgow International’s diagnostic-led program for senior leadership teams. It diagnoses five named alignment gaps across Mindset, Heartset, and Skillset, then closes them through facilitated sessions. Teams leave with a 30-day alignment activation plan.
What is the difference between agreement and alignment?
Agreement is what people say in the room. Alignment is what they believe when they leave it. A team can have unanimous agreement and zero alignment — and most executives can’t tell the difference until the results tell the story. The Alignment Lab makes that difference visible and fixable.
Who is The Alignment Lab for?
One intact senior or executive leadership team at a time — the group whose alignment sets the ceiling for everyone below. It is a leadership-team engagement, not open enrollment. For individual executives, that’s Executive Advisory; for mid-level managers, that’s the Manager Acceleration Development Program.
What is The Alignment Lab Diagnostic?
A 15-question diagnostic that each leader completes individually in five to seven minutes. It produces an individual report and a team report, scoring the team across the five alignment gaps. The session is built from that data before it begins.
What are the five alignment gaps?
The Consensus Gap (agreement without commitment) and The Narrative Gap (a strategy but not a shared story) sit in Mindset. The Pressure Gap (aligned in calm, fractured under stress) and The Norms Gap (tolerating what should be confronted) sit in Heartset. The Systems Gap (intention instead of structure) sits in Skillset.
How is the program structured and how long does it take?
Five modules, one per alignment gap. It runs as a half-day or full-day session, or as a multi-session engagement for teams that want to work each gap in depth. The diagnostic runs first; the closing module produces the 30-day activation plan.
How is this different from a strategy offsite or a team-building session?
A strategy offsite works on what the team decides. Team-building works on how the team feels. The Alignment Lab works on what the team believes — the belief-level gaps that make good strategy revert in practice. It is diagnostic-led and produces an activation plan, not a set of takeaways.
Is it delivered on-site or virtually, and where is it available?
Both. The Alignment Lab is delivered on-site or virtually and is available to organizations nationwide across the United States, from Glasgow International’s base in the Dallas–Fort Worth area.
What does our team leave with, and how do we start?
A shared language for agreement versus alignment, the Belief-Behavior-Outcome Chain, a named list of the tolerances capping performance, alignment systems that hold over time, and a 30-day activation plan. To start, request the diagnostic and overview and we follow up within 24 hours.
